Job summary

FAC Technology in London is seeking a skilled Composites & Resins Scientist to lead technical development of advanced materials, including resins, adhesives and potting compounds. You will work across the company’s product range and pursue speculative opportunities for new materials technologies on site.

The role requires a heavy practical laboratory background, with experience using processing and measurement equipment, and a track record in materials R&D. Hybrid working options are available.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years’ experience in an advanced laboratory environment.
• Experience with rheology, DSC, DMTA and mechanical testing.
• Masters or PhD in materials science, engineering or related field.
• Comprehensive knowledge of composites and resins (epoxy thermosets).

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical development of advanced composite materials.
• Engineer resin formulations per customer requirements.
• Work with engineering to develop and enhance composites processing technologies.
• Use and maintain scientific processing and measuring equipment.
• Collate and organise test data results.
• Maintain awareness of emerging technologies in the field.
• Identify high-level opportunities for further materials development.
• Collaborate with partner organisations and universities to facilitate R&D.
• Identify and progress applications for research grants.
