Job Title: Lead Commissioning Engineer

About the Opportunity:

NRL is proud to be recruiting on behalf of our client for a Lead Commissioning Engineer to join a specialist engineering team on a major nuclear infrastructure programme in Seascale. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in a high-profile, safety-critical environment. You’ll lead commissioning activities on a nationally significant project, where your technical expertise and leadership will be vital to successful project delivery.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Lead a multidisciplinary team of Commissioning Engineers and Technicians through all phases of commissioning.

Champion a safety-first culture, acting as a role model for high standards in nuclear, radiological, and environmental safety.

Manage and oversee the development of commissioning documentation and testing activities.

Coordinate commissioning resources, scheduling tasks in line with project milestones and handover phases.

Facilitate the implementation of Field Observation Reports (FOBs) and Technical Queries (TQs), ensuring timely resolution.

Liaise directly with compliance representatives to support the witnessing and sign-off of commissioning procedures.

Maintain accurate records of Temporary Commissioning Aids and ensure compliance with all regulatory and procedural requirements.

Collaborate with engineering and design teams to support system readiness and final handover.

Drive improvements across the commissioning process, ensuring efficiency and accountability at every stage.


What You’ll Need:

Time-served background or equivalent in an engineering discipline (preferably mechanical).

Hands-on experience in commissioning within large-scale, regulated environments.

Strong knowledge of process commissioning systems, particularly pumps and vessels.

Familiarity with completions management systems such as Go Completions.

Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite for planning, reporting, and documentation.

IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent certification).

A valid CSCS card
