Job summary

Advance Training & Recruitment Services is seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial management on major projects from pre-construction to final account. You will oversee cost planning, procurement, subcontract management, and contract administration with a strong NEC4 focus.

You will guide junior staff, manage risks, and ensure governance across the project lifecycle while maintaining profitability and proactive client engagement.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline required.
• Extensive experience as a Senior or Managing Quantity Surveyor in construction/civil/infrastructure.
• Strong pre-construction management, estimating, cost planning and procurement.
• Proven track record in subcontract procurement, negotiation and administration.
• Excellent NEC4 knowledge, compensation events and contract administration.
• Solid financial management, CVRs and reporting capabilities.
• Ability to lead and develop commercial teams across multiple projects.
• Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills (NEC4 Option E).
• Proficient in MS Office and commercial management software.

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial management from pre-construction through final account.
• Develop procurement strategies and manage subcontract packages.
• Prepare cost plans, budgets and commercial appraisals.
• Monitor costs, forecasts, valuations and change control.
• Provide commercial governance and risk management across projects.
• Lead and mentor junior commercial staff and promote best practices.
• Maintain relationships with clients, consultants and suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures and governance.
