Job summary

Dragados UK & Ireland is seeking a Lead Commercial to oversee and manage all commercial, cost, procurement and contractual elements of the Enabling Works and Design for the HS2 Euston Station joint venture with Mace and Dragados. The role requires leadership of the commercial team, liaising with senior management and driving effective change management.

The successful candidate will manage spend profiles, provide monthly reporting, oversee contractor payments and settlements, and ensure supply

Qualifications

• Experience in a commercial management role on large projects (£500m+).
• Formal qualification MRICS or equivalent.
• Management of large multifunction teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial team responsible for subcontractors for enabling works and design.
• Advise the SLT and project team on commercial issues.
• Oversee change management and assess risks to project out-turn.
• Deliver capex and opex forecasts for the project.
• Oversee monthly valuation and finalisation of contractor accounts.
• Oversee procurement administration and subcontract administration.

Job description

The Lead Commercial oversees and manages the, cost, procurement and contractual aspects of the project from initiation to close-out for Euston Station (HS2) on the joint venture with Mace and Dragados.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead the commercial team responsible for the management of Sub-Contractors for the Enabling Works and Design
• Advise the SLT and project team on all commercial issues effecting the project
• Oversee the development of contractual terms and conditions for suppliers and sub- contractors and agree these with the Project Manager as necessary.
• Review and develop incentivisation arrangements as appropriate
• Agree spend profiles which match the project schedule
• Oversee the reporting against spend profiles for the project on a monthly basis
• Oversee the change management process, consult with other functions to assess changes and risks to the overall project out-turn
• Manage the production of a monthly consolidated project-wide cost / expenditure report
• Deliver capex and opex forecasts for the Project.
• Overview the procurement of services relating to the Project and ensure that the supply chain strategy, policy and procedures are implemented
• Manage the administration of sub-contracts for implementation of the project
• Oversee the monthly valuation process.
• Oversee the development of mitigation plans for potential contractor and supplier claims. Manage the adjudication of claims and make recommendations for settlement.
• Oversee the finalisation of contractor’s accounts and close out contractor contracts for the project.
• Oversee the Construction Partners applications for payment and Early Warning Notices to the PM
• Expert knowledge of all aspects of commercial management

Qualifications, Certifications and Experience:

• Experience in a commercial management role
• Past experience of major (£500m+) projects
• Formal qualification RICS or professional experience
• Management of large multifunction teams
