Lead Cloud Engineer (TypeScript/AWS)

Futureheads is partnered exclusively with an established eCommerce client within the sports industry, seeking a skilled Lead Cloud Engineer to drive their platform's evolution by building scalable cloud-native applications in TypeScript.

This strategic, hands-on role offers the opportunity to lead architectural decisions, define best practices, and own testing strategies across an event-driven, serverless-first platform.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and optimize high-quality, event-driven cloud services using AWS and TypeScript.
• Collaborate with DevOps, Frontend, and Backend teams to align on architecture and developer workflows.
• Lead initiatives for security, observability, testing, and reliability across the platform.
• Make architectural decisions across services and systems.
• Build and mentor a high-performing team, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Partner with stakeholders to enhance developer experience, including onboarding, tooling, and documentation.

Experience we are interested in:

• Building distributed systems and cloud-native applications in TypeScript.
• Deep understanding of AWS services, especially serverless and event-driven components (e.g., Lambda, EventBridge, Step Functions, DynamoDB).
• Designing and maintaining production-grade services and infrastructure.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, etc.).
• Understanding of cloud-native testing strategies and automation.
• Experience leading initiatives to improve reliability, scalability, and delivery velocity.
• Excellent communication skills.
