Job Description:

MCS Group are excited to be working with a new entrant to the local market in their search for a Lead Cloud Engineer. A thriving global business, our client has earmarked Belfast as a location to create a centre of excellence for Cloud, Data and Security practices. The Lead Cloud Engineer will fulfil a technical leadership role (very much player-coach to begin with) overseeing cloud infrastructure-primarily Microsoft Azure-to ensure high availability, security, performance, and cost-efficiency. You'll get the opportunity to build out and lead a team of cloud operations engineers and coordinate across departments like DevOps, Security, and Development to ensure seamless cloud operations within a global business.

The Lead Cloud Engineer will get heavily involved in:

  • Cloud Infrastructure Management - Azure skills are critical for this role
  • Cloud Service Deployment and Maintenance
  • Security & Compliance
  • Performance Monitoring & Cost Control
  • Leadership & Collaboration - you'll get the chance to build and scale your own team of cloud engineers and system administrators over time.

The Ideal Candidate

  • You'll have a strong technical background in cloud engineering and/or systems engineering with recent management and/or leadership experience.
  • You'll have deep hands-on expertise with Azure (including subscriptions, services, networking, and identity management)
  • Proven experience managing and optimising cloud environments, not just building them.
  • Skilled in Terraform, CI/CD, automation, scripting (Powershell/Bash) and monitoring tools.
  • Up to £85,000 with a fantastic benefits package which includes 10% employer contribution pension, up to 20% bonus, generous annual leave with the option to buy more.
