Job summary

Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust seeks an experienced pharmacist to lead and shape the new Emergency Department pharmacy service. The role offers potential for advanced practice and leadership development within a collaborative MDT.

You will help deliver optimal pharmaceutical care, maintain medicines governance, and drive initiatives aligned with national NHS standards. This is a demanding, rewarding position in a forward-thinking trust.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor level degree in Pharmacy and GPhC registration.
  • Post-graduate studies in clinical pharmacy or CPPE pathway.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure ED patients receive critical medicines within required time frames.
  • Monitor and update medicines management processes to standards.

Job overview

Sherwood Forest Hospitalsare seeking an experienced and enthusiastic pharmacist to lead and shape our new Emergency Department pharmacy service. There is opportunity to develop advanced practice and enhance leadership skills and knowledge with an emphasis on innovation. Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring patients in the Emergency Department receive critical medicines within the time frames required
  • Ensuring medicines management processes are monitored and updated in line with local, regional and national standards
  • Support the Emergency medicine MDT in efficient ways of working to maximise individuals skill-set
  • Monitor and identify cost effective medicine initiatives in the Emergency Department
  • Support the clinical pharmacy service in delivering against locally agreed KPIs

Qualifications
  • BSc, BPharm or MPharm in Pharmacy
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Diploma or MSc in clinical pharmacy gained through post-graduate study including the CPPE Primary care pharmacy education pathway
  • Independent prescribing
  • Post-graduate studies relevant to clinical pharmacy
  • Qualification in leadership and/or management.
Knowledge
  • Clinical Pharmacy knowledge associated with a 4 year Pharmacy degree course.
  • Experience gained through successful completion of pre-registration training.
  • Significant hospital pharmacy experience gained through vocational practice.
  • Awareness of NHS priorities in clinical area (Emergency Medicine)
  • Experience of specialist work within Emergency Medicine
  • Evidence-based practice.
