To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

Health and social care integration is a key feature of modern health care and making optimal use of the resources that we have. The pharmacy service plays an integral part in the success of the strategic priorities within the partnership including prevention and proactive care, optimising medicines and equity of access to healthcare. Pioneering innovation, we seek a Lead Clinical Pharmacist to revolutionize pharmaceutical practice across traditional boundaries. Join us as we break barriers, advance patient-centred care, and align with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's Advanced Practice Framework.

Why Us?

  • Collaborative Ecosystem: Work alongside dynamic, multidisciplinary teams committed to pushing the boundaries of patient care.

Due to the retirement of the current post holder we are seeking an individual who will be central to driving service improvement and become a role model of delivery of advanced practice.

The Dundee general practice clinical pharmacy team is pivotal in providing exceptional clinical care to patients across Dundee.

By conducting and being accountable for comprehensive medication reviews, identifying potential adverse reactions, and collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams, the general practice clinical pharmacy team plays a crucial role in mitigating medication-related risks. This proactive approach not only prevents unnecessary hospital admissions, reducing the burden on healthcare resources, but also contributes to an overall improvement in the quality of care for patients.

We are seeking an exceptional candidate to be the Lead Clinical Pharmacist, to lead and support the pharmacy team and to work closely with colleagues within the health and social care partnership to develop medication optimisation services for patients across Dundee to ensure continuity of care, promote better health outcomes, and fostering a patient-centred approach that addresses the nuanced challenges faced by individuals in their healthcare journey.

You will work at a senior level within the service and play an influential role in the patients care pathway whilst building upon proven clinical skills. The combination of responsibilities will significantly facilitate your growth in both the clinical and leadership aspect of this role.

You will have previous experience of working within the primary care environment and will have completed a post-graduate diploma in clinical pharmacy. Evidence of multi-disciplinary teamwork in a relevant clinical area and well-developed communication and leadership skills would be advantageous.

Training and support will be provided. A commitment to continuing professional development is essential. You must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council and possess a prescribing qualification or be prepared to work towards one.
