Job summary

Joseph Gallagher Limited in Southampton is seeking a skilled Senior Engineer to join our team on a major underground civil engineering project. You will provide technical leadership on-site, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities include coordinating engineers and subcontractors, reviewing designs, RAMS, and quality records, and supporting planning to meet milestones. Relevant NEC/temporary works experience is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Proven experience as a Senior Engineer on major civil engineering or tunnelling projects.
• Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete structures and underground works.
• Experience managing engineering teams and coordinating subcontractors.
• Ability to interpret design drawings and technical specifications.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Manage engineering activities across all phases of the project.
• Lead setting out and surveying operations.
• Ensure works are delivered in accordance with design drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
• Produce and review RAMS, inspection test plans, and temporary works documentation.
• Coordinate site engineers, subcontractors, and specialist suppliers.
• Monitor quality assurance processes and maintain accurate engineering records.
• Support planning and programme management to ensure milestones are achieved.
• Liaise with clients, designers, and project stakeholders.
• Assist with commercial matters including change management and compensation events.
• Promote and maintain the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
