Job summary

VERTECH GROUP LTD is seeking a Lead Civil Engineer for water and wastewater projects in Glasgow with remote UK flexibility. The role combines technical direction, leadership and hands-on detailed design across the project lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will have strong water/wastewater design experience, demonstrated leadership, and the ability to deliver design deliverables independently while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Strong civil engineering design experience in the water/wastewater sector.
• Detailed design experience, ideally involving non-infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience leading, mentoring or providing technical direction to other Civil Engineers.
• Confident and approachable with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Hands-on with producing and reviewing engineering drawings.
• Ability to own civil design activities and deliver work independently.

Lead Civil Engineer - Water & Wastewater

Location: Glasgow / Remote UK

Salary: Circa £75,000-£85,000 + Bonus + Excellent Benefits

Lead Civil Engineer required by a growing engineering consultancy working on a range of technically challenging projects within the water and wastewater sector

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineer to take a leading role within the civil engineering team, providing technical direction, supporting other engineers and remaining closely involved in detailed design work

You'll need to be comfortable taking ownership of civil engineering deliverables, while remaining hands-on with the detailed design responsibilities expected of other engineers within the team

The role offers a varied mix of technical design, engineering leadership and collaboration with other disciplines, supporting projects through different stages of delivery

Essential:

• Strong civil engineering design experience within the water/wastewater sector, particularly treatment works
• Significant detailed design experience, ideally involving non-infrastructure projects
• Proven experience leading, mentoring or providing technical direction to other Civil Engineers
• Confident and approachable, with strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Comfortable remaining technically hands-on, including producing and reviewing engineering drawings
• Ability to take ownership of civil design activities and deliver work independently

Advantageous:

• A Civil Engineering degree and Chartered status, or progress towards chartership
• Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering consultancies
• Experience delivering civil engineering designs from concept through to detailed design
