Job description

We are looking to strengthen our Engineering team in the @one Alliance with a Lead Infrastructure Engineer based at Peterborough or a suitable Anglian regional office, with hybrid working available.

You will report directly to the Senior Design Manager, providing civil and pipeline engineering technical reviews, guidance, and inputs to both clean water and water recycling infrastructure projects. Your role includes supporting the design of infrastructure schemes, ensuring all designs are fit for purpose and compliant with current legislation and standards.

You will have dual reporting lines to the Senior Design Manager (Engineering) and the Principal Infrastructure Engineer, supporting engineering delivery teams by reviewing and accepting key project deliverables across infrastructure (pipeline) projects. The role involves providing technical expertise in clean or wastewater pipeline design, maintaining engineering standards, and fostering continuous improvement and innovation. You will mentor junior engineers, providing technical leadership across projects within a programme area.

Additionally, you will develop innovative methods, encourage engineers to identify potential designs that can be standardized, and promote efficiency and collaboration across the business. Working with stakeholders, you will drive engineering, design, and innovation advancements.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Reporting regularly to the Principal Engineer.
2. Collaborating with project teams to track milestones and review schedules.
3. Ensuring all drawings meet @one quality, safety, and technical standards.
4. Reviewing design calculations and project deliverables.
5. Engaging with Assurance Lead Engineers at key milestones.
6. Addressing construction site design queries and change requests.
7. Leading design review meetings with Infrastructure Engineers and Technical Managers.
8. Participating in CDM and commissioning strategy meetings.
9. Collaborating on process improvements with the Principal Engineer and Design Managers.
10. Working with CAD and design teams on outputs.
11. Implementing risk management hierarchies in design.
12. Conducting site visits as needed.
13. Coordinating with other departments on design requirements.
14. Managing workload to meet standards and specifications.
15. Overseeing quality via BIM360 workflows.
16. Supporting other engineers to meet project standards.

Qualifications:

• Degree in water/wastewater engineering or related field (preferred).
• Proven experience as a senior discipline engineer.
• Extensive technical knowledge and project management skills.
• Construction experience and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong IT skills and problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge of pipe materials, sewerage systems, trunk water mains, and pressurized systems.
