Qualifications

Mott MacDonald Bentley is recruiting for a Lead Civil Engineer to join the Anglian Water @One Alliance.

As part of Anglian Water’s @One Alliance, we aim to create a sustainable and resilient water future. With an ambitious £2.3 billion capital investment in AMP8, we are transforming infrastructure, sustainability, and digital innovation to protect the environment and support communities.

What will you be doing as our new Lead Civil Engineer?

You will provide technical direction, collaborate with stakeholders, and support multidisciplinary project teams. Your role includes designing non-infrastructure schemes, ensuring compliance with legislation and standards, and delivering projects on time and within budget. Water Non-Infrastructure projects typically relate to potable water assets at treatment works or storage sites. A key part of your role involves leading, coaching, and developing junior engineers.

Key responsibilities:
  • Review civil design deliverables to ensure adherence to processes and standards.
  • Participate in Construction Design Management (CDM) and commissioning meetings.
  • Ensure CDM design deliverables are completed for projects.
  • Disseminate technical knowledge across the civil engineering team.
  • Ensure compliance with Asset Standards and challenge where necessary.
  • Establish technical standards across project and alliance teams.
  • Implement digital technologies for 3D modeling.
  • Provide technical guidance to engineers.
  • Create design alerts for continuous improvement.
Skills, experience, and behaviors:
  • Degree in engineering or equivalent; ideally chartered or working towards it.
  • Expertise in reinforced concrete, steel buildings, buried pipework, and site infrastructure.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Passion for health, safety, and innovative design solutions.
