Job summary

Haringey Council seeks an experienced Lead Child Protection Practitioner to shape a new MACPT and guide decisions for children at risk of significant harm. You will work alongside police, health and education to test and improve the model as it grows across the borough.

The ideal candidate will have substantial post-qualifying experience in statutory child protection, including section 47 enquiries and conferences, and will chair or lead multi-agency meetings ensuring plans with families are

Qualifications

• Hold a recognised social work qualification and current registration with Social Work England.
• Experience in statutory child protection, including section 47 enquiries and child protection conferences.
• Ability to chair or lead multi-agency meetings with complex safeguarding decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategy discussions with partners to determine whether a section 47 enquiry is needed.
• Oversee section 47 enquiries and decisions with partner agencies about children who need protection.
• Chair initial and review child protection conferences with clear, specific plans developed with families.
• Provide consultation, guidance and constructive challenge to social workers and managers.
• Contribute to practice guidance, learning and induction as the model develops.
