Job summary

London Borough of Lambeth is recruiting a Lead Child Protection Practitioner to oversee complex safeguarding decisions and lead multi-agency activity within the MACPS framework.

You will provide expert leadership across Section 47 enquiries, strategy discussions and conferences, ensuring defensible, child-centred planning and collaboration with police, health, education and partners. Hybrid working with office time in the borough is available.

Qualifications

• Recognised social work qualification and current Social Work England registration.
• Significant recent experience in frontline statutory child protection practice.
• Detailed knowledge of child protection legislation, guidance, procedures and multi-agency safeguarding.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate Section 47 child protection enquiries across Children’s Services.
• Chair strategy meetings, child protection conferences and other safeguarding discussions.
• Provide expert consultation, guidance and professional challenge to social workers and partner agencies.
• Support timely, evidence-informed and defensible decision-making where children may be harmed.
• Contribute to protection and safety planning focused on outcomes for children and families.
• Promote high standards of recording, analysis, information-sharing and QA across the safeguarding pathway.
• Model relational, trauma-informed and culturally competent practice with children, families and professionals.
