Eden Brown Synergy is recruiting a Lead Child Protection Practitioner to work with Dorset Council in Wareham, Dorset. The role focuses on leadership within the Multi-Agency Child Protection Team and chairs strategy meetings and conferences to safeguard children.

The position offers flexible hybrid working with a long-term outlook and competitive hourly rates up to £47.50 per hour for the right candidate; you will be registered with Social Work England and have experience in children's services.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Social Worker and registered with Social Work England.
  • Experience in childrens services is required.
  • Disability services experience preferred but not essential.
  • Strong collaboration across agencies and disciplines.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage a varied caseload.
  • Own transport essential due to rural location in North Dorset.

Responsibilities

  • Chair all MACPT strategy meetings and child protection conferences.
  • Oversee section 47 enquiries and decision making.
  • Lead multi-agency and single agency investigations as required.
  • Attend daily S47 outcome meetings as part of the MACPT.
  • Provide advice and consultation on multi-agency child protection matters.
  • Support families and ensure linkages to Family Help where appropriate.

Job description

Social Worker required for work as an Lead Child Protection Practitioner arena for Dorset Council. Team is based in Wareham in east of the county. Dorset are offering good rates up to £47.50ph for the right candidates. Long term contracts offered in a well managed supportive team. 3 months initial contract 37 hrs per hour. Flexible Hybrid working.

Lead Child Protection Practitioners will:
  1. 1. Be a key member of the Multi-Agency Child Protection Team.
  2. 2. Chair all strategy meetings.
  3. 3. Chair child protection conferences.
  4. 4. Oversee and be the decision maker regarding section 47 enquiries.
  5. 5. Lead the oversight of multi-agency and single agency investigations (as required).
  6. 6. Attend as part of the MACPT the daily S47 outcome meeting.
  7. 7. Chair MACE meetings for children who are at significant risk of extra familiar risk and harm.
  8. 8. Attend relevant Extra Familiar Risk and Harm Panels.
  9. 9. Work in collaboration with the Family Help Service to ensure robust child protection responses.
  10. 10. Gather information about whether a child is suffering significant harm, to support decision making.
  11. 11. Ensure that families have been offered a family group conference for children subject to child protection plans.
  12. 12. Visit families to prepare them for child protection conferences and support them to prepare a draft plan for the conference.
  13. 13. Oversee and quality assure the development, review and closure of child protection plans, including formal mid-way reviews.
  14. 14. Input into onward planning for children and families (including continued support from Family Help and the voluntary sector).
  15. 15. Provide advice and consultation for practitioners who need multi-agency child protection expertise.
Requirements
  • Qualified Social Worker and registered with Social Work England
  • Experience in childrens services
  • Experience in disability services preferred but not essential
  • Strong partnership working skills across agencies and disciplines
  • Ability to work autonomously and handle a varied caseload
  • Own transport essential due to the rural nature of North Dorset

You will be Social Work England registered, ideally a driver with access to own car and able to reside and work in the UK
