Job summary

HS2 Ltd is seeking a Lead Project Engineer - CCS to lead engineering for the route-wide CCS and Traffic Management systems on the HS2 programme. You will provide technical assurance across design, construction and commissioning in partnership with Siemens and HS2 teams.

Based in London (Euston) or hybrid with regular office presence; the role offers progression to Head of CCS and exposure to one of the UK's most advanced signalling programmes.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering major signalling/CCS projects.
• Experience across design, installation, testing and commissioning lifecycle.
• Ability to lead/co-ordinate engineering teams and develop engineers.
• Strong technical assurance and design assurance experience.
• Solid understanding of signalling standards and railway systems.
• Experience managing complex technical interfaces across multidisciplinary projects.
• Knowledge of CDM and Principal Designer duties.
• Experience working with NEC3/NEC4 contracts.
• Strong risk, change and issue management skills.
• Ability to understand impact of engineering decisions on cost, programme, quality and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering leadership and technical assurance across the CCS programme.
• Lead risk-based technical assurance through design, construction, testing and commissioning.
• Review contractor designs and deliverables against HS2 requirements.
• Lead Technical Assurance Reviews and targeted contractor reviews.
• Manage engineering issues, risks and changes affecting CCS.
• Contribute to change management and technical approvals.
• Respond to technical queries and provide contractual input.
• Coordinate CCS interfaces with other railway systems.
• Support integration of CCS into the wider HS2 railway.
• Collaborate with Commercial and Project teams on cost and schedule implications.
• Work with specialists on practical, cost-effective solutions.
• Support Head of Signalling on technical matters.
• Undertake delegated technical authority duties.
• Support CDM Principal Designer duties.
