THE TALENT BRANCH in Rugby, Warwickshire, is seeking a Lead Cabinet Maker / Senior Cabinetmaker to own projects from drawings to finished luxury pieces. This permanent, on-site role requires leadership of a small team and skills across timber selection, veneering and hardware installation.

You will read detailed drawings, supervise production, and ensure precision in bespoke freestanding and fitted cabinetry, using top‑quality timbers and materials.

Qualifications

• Proven cabinet maker with experience on bespoke, high-end furniture.
• Specialist in bespoke/fine furniture; general joinery background not suitable.
• Confident reading of detailed technical drawings.
• Hands-on veneering experience essential.
• Experience leading projects or mentoring others.
• High craftsmanship, planning and attention to detail.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Build bespoke high-end freestanding and fitted furniture from drawings.
• Lead projects or a small team from cutting list to final assembly.
• Select and work with timbers, veneers and finished boards.
• Veneering: selection, cutting, jointing and pressing.
• Fit modern hardware including drawers, hinges and ironmongery.
• Work with luxury secondary materials such as inlays and leather.
• Cabinet jointing and assembly using up-to-date methods.
• Operate wood machinery to a safe, qualified standard.

Lead Cabinet Maker / Senior Cabinetmaker - Bespoke Luxury Furniture - Rugby Salary: £38,000 - £42,000 depending on experience Location: Rugby, Warwickshire (CV23) Job type: Permanent, full-time

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Cabinet Maker, Cabinetmaker or Bench Joiner to take a lead role with an established, privately owned furniture manufacturer based near Rugby, Warwickshire. The business designs and builds bespoke, high-end freestanding and fitted furniture and cabinetry for private clients, heritage properties, interior designers, architects and construction companies, working across contemporary and traditional luxury furniture styles.

This is a senior bench position for a skilled Cabinet Maker who can take true ownership of a project, from technical drawing through to a finished luxury piece, working independently or leading a small team of cabinet makers and joiners on genuinely bespoke, high-end furniture and cabinetry work.

What you'll be doing:

• Building bespoke, high-end freestanding and fitted furniture and cabinetry to an exceptional standard, working from detailed construction drawings in paper and digital formats
• Leading individual cabinet making projects or a small team of cabinet makers and joiners, from cutting list through to final assembly and fitting
• Selecting and working with a wide range of fine timbers, veneers and manufactured boards
• Veneering work including selection, cutting, jointing and pressing, using hydraulic and bag press equipment
• Fitting modern hardware including drawer runners, hinges and architectural ironmongery
• Working with luxury secondary materials such as inlays, decorative metal trims, glass and leather
• Cabinet jointing and assembly using up to date fixing methods and power tool jointers
• Operating a range of wood machinery to a safe, qualified standard

What we're looking for:

• Proven experience as a Cabinet Maker, Cabinetmaker, Bench Joiner or Furniture Maker working on bespoke, fine or high-end luxury furniture and cabinetry
• Candidates with a general joinery, kitchen fitting or flat pack background only will not be suitable for this role
• Confident reading and working from detailed technical construction drawings
• Hands on veneering experience is essentialRecognised wood machining qualifications, or clearly evidenced experience operating wood machinery safely
• Experience leading a project or mentoring less experienced cabinet makers is an advantage
• High personal standards of craftsmanship, planning, organisation and attention to detail
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
