Job summary

Agilis Recruitment is partnering with a global technology organisation to hire a Lead Software Engineer specialising in C#/.NET. Based near Cheltenham Spa with remote options, you will mentor engineers, shape backend services, and drive AI-assisted development within a scalable platform.

You’ll work on REST APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures using PostgreSQL and AWS, with a focus on robust testing, code quality, and delivery estimation. Attractive £70k-£75k DOE in a hybrid setup.

Qualifications

• Commercial Software Engineering experience with C# and .NET.
• Senior/Lead engineer experience acting as Technical Lead.
• Experience building backend services and REST APIs.
• Understanding of event-driven, asynchronous or service-based architectures.
• Experience with PostgreSQL.
• Experience with automated testing, source control and code reviews.
• Ability to work from technical documentation and requirements.
• Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools.

Responsibilities

• Act as a Technical lead, Mentoring other Engineers and performing code Reviews
• Build and maintain production software using C# and .NET.
• Develop backend services, APIs and event-driven applications.
• Work with PostgreSQL and AWS cloud technologies.
• Contribute to microservices, integrations and distributed systems.
• Support UI development using Blazor where required.
• Write automated tests and participate in peer code reviews.
• Troubleshoot issues and support production systems.
• Translate requirements into technical tasks and contribute to delivery estimates.
• Use AI-assisted development tools, including GitHub Copilot, as part of the development process.
