What's the role

Shell Energy, part of Shell's Trading & Supply division, focuses on natural gas, power, LNG, and environmental products markets across major hubs in London, Houston, Dubai, Singapore, and Brisbane. We are leading the energy transition, providing cleaner energy solutions in a dynamic environment. Our team offers extensive energy marketing and trading expertise, enabling us to develop tailored solutions to help our customers decarbonize.

As a member of Shell Energy Analysis & Design CC, you will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), working closely with business and IT stakeholders to define and shape future solutions in the Gas & Power portfolios. This role requires extensive experience in Commodity Trading and Trading Operations within the Gas sector, with a thorough understanding of valuation and modelling factors.

What you'll be doing
  • Engaging with traders and desks to understand challenges and needs, collaborating on business case development.
  • Managing business analysis activities across multiple programs from inception to delivery.
  • Leading scope and design discussions for your workstream, assessing risks, feasibility, and impacts.
  • Escalating issues as necessary within your workstream.
  • Mentoring and coaching the business analysis team.
  • Innovating solutions and approaches to existing problems or new opportunities.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, managing expectations.
What you bring

We seek a Business Analyst with substantial energy trading experience, eager to grow within a team pushing the boundaries of Energy Trading and Risk Management. You should have:

  • A proven track record of delivering projects lifecycle.
  • Expertise in process and solution shaping, capturing business problems, value drivers, and requirements.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and change management skills.
  • Stakeholder management experience at various organizational levels.
  • Experience in quality assurance roles.
  • Proficiency in Agile and DevOps methodologies.
  • Excellent team collaboration, adaptability, and quick learning abilities.
  • Strong business analysis skills, including design thinking, process modelling, data analysis, and more.
Energy Trading Experience
  • Extensive experience in energy markets, especially European Power, Gas, or Environmental products.
  • Knowledge of trading instruments like OTC transactions, futures, options, deal modeling, and pricing.
  • Understanding of trade capture, market risk, risk valuation, back-office, and accounting processes.
ETRM/CTRM Experience
  • Hands-on ETRM/CTRM experience, especially with Endur systems.
  • Experience with system configuration and integration technologies.
