What is the purpose of this job?

This senior role will lead a team of over 10 Business Analysts and involves performing Senior Business Analyst duties while also taking on strategic and leadership responsibilities to ensure the success of the Business Analysis function. The Lead Business Analyst will drive the development and implementation of business solutions, ensure high performance, consistency, and efficiency across our Business Analysis function. The role will determine the Business Analysis strategy and direction for the organization.

While the Lead Business Analyst will be the line manager of the RDG Business Analysts, they will work on various projects and programmes daily, making this a matrix management role. They will collaborate with project and programme managers to optimize team performance, deliver project outcomes, and develop team members' skills and experience.

The Lead Business Analyst will also oversee contract Business Analysts working within Projects and Programmes, ensuring adherence to common processes, ways of working, and tools.

You will contribute to and follow the RDG Project Delivery Framework and encourage others to do the same. Success will be measured by the delivery of projects and programmes within the organization and, where appropriate, with member organizations.

The Lead Business Analyst will dedicate part of their time to providing senior business analysis support to one or more projects.

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans for the Business Analysis function; align activities with organizational goals; develop resource plans; identify process improvements and industry trends.
  • Business Analysis: Support projects by gathering requirements, developing business cases, facilitating workshops, creating process maps, and specifications.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build relationships with stakeholders; communicate effectively; manage expectations; participate in steering committees.

Requirements

What experience, skills, and knowledge do I need?

Minimum 5 years of senior BA leadership experience managing large programmes/projects, with strong leadership skills. Experience in managing and mentoring Business Analysts, familiarity with matrix management, and expertise in BA and project methodologies are essential. Experience in complex technology projects, defining technical requirements, and liaising with technology suppliers is advantageous. Strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex requirements are required.
