Job summary

Tameside Council’s Building Control service is expanding, seeking a Senior Building Control Enforcement Officer to lead enforcement activity and safeguard public safety. A core focus is identifying unauthorised works and implementing robust processes to manage them.

You will respond to dangerous buildings, conduct proactive compliance checks, and coordinate remedial actions with contractors, emergency services, and other Council teams. The role requires driving and working across the borough.

Qualifications

• Experience in Building Control environment and knowledge of Building Regulations and enforcement processes.
• Ability to assess dangerous structures and manage workload.

Responsibilities

• Identify and investigate unauthorised works and establish processes to manage this.
• Respond to dangerous or defective buildings and coordinate remedial actions with contractors, emergency services and Council teams.
• Maintain accurate case records, prepare reports and support out-of-hours rota for dangerous buildings and structures.
