Job description

AFH Financial Group are seeking a Lead BI Analyst to join our established BI. Your role will be to support our BI Team in creating several key reports as well as ad-hoc analysis for our Board, which will also involve supporting the project end-to-end as well as the maintenance of these reports and dashboards.

The Role

As the Lead BI Analyst, you will work with our suite of reporting tool kits, including Power BI for the creation of reports and dashboards for the Groups stakeholders. You will work collaboratively with our Technical team to ensure that requirements delivered via robust solutions.

Your role will be to produce quality reporting and dashboards in line with the Stakeholders requirements, as well as to provide ad-hoc analysis where required and any support they require in answering questions or queries with these. Your role will also include oversight of other technical members and help in running sprints and making sure projects are delivered within the deadlines.

This role will report to Head of Data & BI.

The key responsibilities of this job include:

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable and efficient BI solutions and dashboards.
  • Manage and mentor Senior BI and BI Analysts and pinpointing areas for improvement within the team.
  • Deep dive data analysis, finding and presenting deeper and more layered insights
  • Analyse complex data to determine correlation and data integrity issues
  • Work closely with Stakeholders on reporting requirements ensuring the solution is delivered to spec.
  • Manage and support queries from Stakeholders and SMEs for any amendments or issues relating to this reporting.
  • To be pro-active in suggesting and proposing creative solutions or new technologies to support the Board and wider business teams involved.
  • Ability to deliver compelling and clear insight to the wider business
  • Work closely with other BI and Data Team members to enable reporting to be automated
  • Maintenance and creation of supporting documentation to products developed.
  • Mentor other team members within the team.

What you will bring to the team:

  • Experience managing or supervising a team of BI Analysts.
  • Experience in reporting professional with a good understanding of SQL scripting and data modelling gained in a BI and reporting development environment.
  • Extensive experience in using Power BI (Desktop and Online, as well as Excel (to a lesser degree).
  • Comfortablity working with an Agile methodology using Kanban boards
  • Experienced in collaboratively with those around you, proactively building exceptional working relationships with internal and external stakeholders - you are equally able to shape the decisions with well-informed views.
  • Experience with dimensional modelling (warehouses, data vaults, etc.) would be desirable.
