Job summary

SER Limited in Birmingham is seeking a Lead AV Engineer to manage on-site delivery of audio visual installations for commercial and public sector clients across the Midlands. You will lead contractor teams, coordinate with clients, and ensure cabling and equipment are installed to high standards.

The role requires 3+ years of AV installation experience, familiarity with brands like Crestron, Extron, Biamp, Poly and Cisco, and a willingness to work evenings and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience installing AV systems in commercial/public sector settings.
• Experience with major AV brands (Crestron/Extron/Biamp/Poly/Cisco) preferred; commissioning experience beneficial.
• Solid HDBaseT/AVoIP understanding and on-site installation skills.
• Willingness to work evenings and travel as required; DBS check and driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Lead teams of contractors on site and ensure safe, compliant AV installations.
• Act as on-site client contact and coordinate with operations on progress and issues.
• Assemble AV racks with labeled, tidy cabling and perform 1st/2nd fix works.
• Conduct site surveys and pre-commissioning with firmware updates for final commissioning.
• Support occasional overnight stays and adhere to health and safety policies.
• Commission audio DSPs and control systems as part of the project.

Position Overview:

Lead the installation of audio visual solutions for commercial and public sector clients within the Midlands.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leading teams of contractors on site.
• Acting as the point of contact on site for any client queries.
• Maintain contact with the operations team regarding any progress or issues that may occur on site.
• Assembly of AV racks ensuring all cabling is labelled and structured in a tidy manner.
• 1st and 2nd fix installation of sound systems, video equipment and AV related controls.
• Conduct site surveys.
• Pre-commissioning carrying out firmware updates prepping equipment for final stage commissioning.
• Working away from home where required.
• Adhere to health and safety policies.
• (Bonus) Commissioning of audio DSPs and control systems.

Requirements:

• 3+ years experience installing AV systems within a commercial or public sector environment.
• Experience with systems such as Crestron, Extron, Biamp, Poly, Cisco would be highly beneficial. Any commissioning / configuration experience would be highly beneficial.
• Good understanding of HDBase T and AVoIP.
• Willing to work evenings where required.
• A clean criminal record with the ability to pass an advanced DBS check.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
