Job Title: Lead Auditor

Role Type: Full time / Permanent

The role

As a Lead Auditor, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Join a central role in the Quality Department, where you'll lead audits aligned with the company’s programme and provide expert guidance on quality assurance. Your work will help strengthen standards, drive continuous improvement, and support teams across the organisation.

Day-to-day, you’ll lead assurance activities and internal audits, report compliance findings, support corrective actions, and communicate changes impacting the Business Management System.

  • Design and implement independent assurance activities for the business
  • Undertake and lead internal audits
  • Review findings of audits and report to the organisation on levels of compliance recommending corrective action as appropriate
  • Support, agree and monitor the implementation of corrective actions
  • Interpret and communicate any changes to standard that could affect the Business Management System.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

Essential experience of the Lead Auditor

  • Proficient in applying ISO9001, ISO14001, and ISO45001 standards
  • Skilled in CAPA, root cause analysis, and audit verification; experienced auditor
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Qualified Lead or Internal Auditor with previous experience in quality, audit, or professional services
  • Familiarity with MOD quality systems and Nuclear License Conditions - Desirable

Qualifications for the Lead Auditor

  • To hold or can demonstrate progression towards professional membership (CQI/IIA for example)
  • Minimum of an HNC/HND in Engineering or a related discipline

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
