The role: Lead Asset Management Engineer

Type: Fixed term contract - Minimum 18 months

Location: Remote (Home based) - covering UK sites

The company operates a range of power generation technologies and revenue streams, ensuring the security of supply while optimising market opportunities.


The role

An opportunity has arisen to recruit a Lead Asset Management Engineer (Plant Integrity) to join the Central Engineering team for up to 18 months. The role will cover all live & future assets, so the base location is flexible.

The successful candidate will safely and effectively deliver the longer-term Engineering, Quality and Maintenance Strategy of the operational plants, as well as deliver effective support to complex breakdown and reliability issues.

The role holder will have expert mechanical knowledge and will act as the technical expert in all matters mechanical. They will also be responsible for the development and implementation of technical solutions to support safe plant performance.

It is expected that this role could spend 30-50% of their time working on construction projects, depending on project volumes. Some periods will also require deputising for other roles, covering the other managerial positions on site and supporting the wider teams on short-term secondments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Designing, developing and delivering the Engineering Strategy within the speciality.
  • Being the technical expert on all matters mechanical, particularly relating to PSSR.
  • Oversight of engineering project development and implementation.
  • Delivering innovative technical solutions.
  • Supporting major plant outages.
  • Establishing and maintaining agreements with key maintenance and operations service providers and contractors, supporting the fleet in contractor selection, tender creation, review and execution.
  • Managing technical nomination processes and working with site managers to ensure staff competence.
  • Carrying out technical RCA, including cross-site investigations, and sharing lessons learned and best practices.
  • Supporting site investment decisions.
  • Delivering Management of Change processes.
  • Leading Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) design studies to ensure supplied products are fit for purpose and compliant.
  • Conducting periodic audits of management systems and reporting on compliance, addressing audit actions.
  • Conducting supplier audits and surveillance visits to support the supply chain.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Background

  • Prior experience in a senior engineering role working across a fleet, ideally in power stations or similar infrastructure, with specific CCGT operational experience - essential.
  • Experience in proactive Health, Safety, and Environment management - essential.
  • Ability to lead a constructive safety culture with challenges and opportunities - essential.
  • Experience managing a large team in a process-driven environment - essential.
  • Extensive knowledge of engineering, operational, and maintenance management - essential.
  • Construction experience - desirable.

  • Degree in engineering or a related discipline (alternative qualifications acceptable with relevant experience) - essential.
