This role defines, upholds, and communicates the Technology Strategy and direction to support the Group’s vision and strategic intent, with a clear focus on the capabilities needed to ensure long-term success aligning our Technology agenda with the Group’s Strategy.

This opportunity is for a Lead Architect role aligned to the Risk Platforms who are undergoing a multi-million pound, multi-year investment to revolutionise the group Credit, Prudential, Environmental, and Operational Risk processes, utilising pioneering Data & Technical capabilities.

The candidate will combine business (corporate governance, business control, developing business solutions, design skills), technical (Public and Private Cloud, APIs, Traditional hosting, event-driven architectures), architectural (feasibility assessments, roadmaps), and personal skills (agile & digital mindset, strong communication, leadership skills, embodiment of values) to support the Platform from an architectural perspective.

Overall, this role proposes the strategic direction of architecture and drives change management for Risk. Expert skills and knowledge are required to act as a trusted advisor and internal consultant to the Technology and Business Platform Leads.

SALARY: £106,400 - £124,653

LOCATIONS: Manchester, Edinburgh, Leeds, Halifax

HOURS: Full time

WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in the office

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Lead Architect for our Group Risk Function as part of the Chief Technology Office (CTO).

In this pivotal role, you’ll define, uphold, and communicate the Technology Strategy to support the Group’s vision and strategic goals. With a clear focus on the capabilities needed for long-term success, you’ll align our Technology agenda with the Group’s overarching strategy.

This opportunity is specifically aligned to the Group’s Risk Function, which is the central and independent Risk Function for Lloyds Banking Group. An integral part of the Group's three lines of defence (3LoD), its role is to protect the Group and our customers.

We’re looking for a candidate who can combine a mix of business acumen, technical prowess, architectural expertise, and personal skills to support our platform from an architectural perspective.

What you’ll need

  • Demonstrable experience as a Lead Architect, successfully setting the architecture vision and strategy within financial services
  • Breadth of experience in architecture in a regulated industry, including understanding relevant FCA/PRA requirements
  • Gravitas and impact to operate at a director level, with strong storytelling skills both written and verbal
  • Experience in corporate governance, business control, solution development, and design
  • Technical knowledge of Cloud, APIs, traditional hosting, and event-driven architectures
  • Architectural expertise, including feasibility assessments and road-mapping
  • Personal strengths: agile mindset, digital approach, strong communication, leadership, and alignment with company values
  • Support for Platform architecture
