Lead Allied Health Professional (AHP)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a visible and self motivated AHP leader with experience in developing services and motivating teams. The Divisional Lead AHP role will provide professional support to our clinical teams which include Therapies and Imaging services with the Community, Cancer, Diagnostics and End of Life Division (CCDE). The post holder will ensure robust governance and assurance structures are in place and support the delivery of service transformation.

An understanding of integrated working and the ability to deliver services across professions and integrated pathways is essential. You will work flexibly to respond to the changing needs of the service. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required, as well as the ability to influence, provide professional leadership and motivate at all levels. The successful candidate will be passionate about quality improvement and the contribution of our services to improving patient experience and health outcomes.

As a member of the Divisional Leadership Team, reporting to the Divisional Head of Nursing, you will alongside the Divisional Lead Nurse and be supported by the divisional Triumvirate. We will provide a supportive environment, that has a strong team ethic and collective desire to deliver excellent standards of patient care.

Main duties of the job

To assist/support the Divisional Head of Nursing and lead clinical and non-clinical colleagues in delivering all elements of practice and governance for the Community, Cancer, Diagnostics and End of Life Division. The postholder will work in accordance with the standards set by the NMC or HCPC or other relevant registration body, Trust Policies and National Guidelines e.g. NICE. To provide visible leadership and operational advice and guidance for nursing and AHP staff and actively engage with service users.

The post holder will ensure that the service meets the strategic requirements as set out by the Trust and work with the relevant stakeholders to ensure delivery of the key performance indicators for services across the Division and organisation.

With relevant stakeholders and service leads ensure the delivery of appropriate service redesign and empowering staff to meet the needs of the local population in line with key objectives outlined in local and national policy documents.

About us

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Cardiac Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Person specification
  • Nursing or AHP Honours Degree or equivalent.
  • Registered with the relevant professional regulatory body i.e. NMC/HCPC
  • Evidence of relevant post Graduate Specialist education at master's level or equivalent
  • Considerable clinical practice experience
  • Considerable senior line-management experience within the NHS, Adult Social Care, Third Sector or Private practice.
