Job summary

Client Server in London is seeking a Lead AI Engineer to own AI initiatives and drive capability across the firm. You will be hands-on with Python and TypeScript, delivering AI applications and agentic workflows end-to-end, from discovery to production support.

You will collaborate with the CTO and senior tech leadership, shaping technical strategy while mentoring colleagues and promoting responsible AI adoption in a hedge fund environment.

Lead AI Engineer / Developer (Python / TypeScript) London to £220k+

Are you a skilled backend focussed Software Engineer with experience of delivering AI systems and transformations?

You could be progressing your career in a senior, hands-on role at a Hedge Fund with complex work and substantial bonus earning potential.

As a Lead AI Engineer you will collaborate closely with the CTO and tech leadership team to introduce and drive the adoption of AI tools within the business. You'll help establish the technical strategy but will be hands-on with implementing change and processes in an impactful role with a lot of influence.

You'll build and deploy AI applications and agentic workflows across the firm, owning projects end-to-end from identifying opportunities and prototyping through stakeholder engagement, development, deployment and post production support. You'll work with both structured and unstructured data, including market and tick data, research, reports, documents and web sourced information.

Evaluating emerging AI tools and technologies, you'll recommend best practices for wider adoption, while establishing practical standards for AI assisted coding and agentic development. Working closely with Compliance and Information Security, you'll help define approaches to data security, governance and responsible AI adoption.

As an AI advocate across the firm, you'll also educate and support colleagues, helping them understand how AI can enhance their workflows and encouraging practical adoption of new capabilities.

You join colleagues in the impressive Central London office with flexibility to work from home once a week.

About you:

• You have demonstrated experience in applied AI, with experience of working in data science, software engineering, data engineering, or other relevant discipline
• You're a skilled, senior level Software Engineer with strong Python and TypeScript
• You have experience within a financial services, FinTech or Hedge Fund environment, with a good understanding of industry terms
• You have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, you're able to effectively influence and interact with both technical staff and non-technical business stakeholders
• You have achieved a 2.1 or above at BSc in a STEM discipline from a top tier university (i.e. Russel Group, Oxbridge)
