Job summary

DWP Digital is seeking a Lead Agile Delivery Manager to guide the delivery of large-scale digital products and services across complex, multi-team environments. You will champion agile ways of working, foster collaboration, and empower teams to deliver value for millions of users.

You will lead a cross-government community, develop your team through mentorship, and drive continuous improvement while partnering with senior stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives.

We are looking for a Lead Agile Delivery Manager to join our community of digital experts in DWP Digital.

Developing a World-Class Practice.

Our Agile Delivery practice is thriving with over 200 members. We lead a cross-government community which meets once a month to share ideas and discuss emerging trends.

You're a leader. You'll support and develop your team, providing mentorship, regular feedback, and fostering a high-performing, collaborative culture rooted in agile principles.

You’ll tackle obstacles head-on, fine-tune workflows, and champion a culture where continuous improvement is embedded in everything the team does. Your leadership will keep delivery moving efficiently, creating the momentum needed for impactful, lasting change.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?

In your application, you should showcase clear examples and evidence of how you meet the following criteria:

• Experience leading in a strategic and inclusive way, driving transformation by challenging established norms and fostering a culture of innovation and growth. Ability to guide with a clear vision and strong sense of purpose, align complex programmes with broader organisational goals to enable teams to navigate ambiguity with confidence.
• Ability to identify, understand and engage a network of influential stakeholders across all levels, ranging from senior executives and programme sponsors to delivery teams, external partners, and cross-government collaborators. Cultivate and sustain strong, trust-based relationships to align interests, manage expectations, support shared goals, remove barriers and accelerate delivery of strategic outcomes.
• Experience of creating a culture of continuous learning and professional development, implementing effective incentives and support mechanisms that empower others to develop and thrive.
• Experience driving the commercial processes, including negotiations, governance, and escalated issues, to ensure delivery outcomes. Experience managing supplier relationships at a strategic level, ensuring contractual commitments are met and commercial risks are managed.

You will lead the delivery of secure, high-performing data platforms, products and services that meet user needs and support DWP's strategic objectives.

Working across multiple teams, you'll create the conditions for successful delivery by embedding agile ways of working, fostering collaboration, and building an environment where people feel empowered, supported and able to do their best work.

You’ll champion continuous improvement, encourage constructive challenge, and help teams adapt, learn and grow.

You'll drive complex delivery at scale, managing dependencies, risks and priorities while removing blockers and enabling teams to focus on delivering value.

Working closely with senior stakeholders, you'll build strong relationships, align delivery with strategic objectives, and help develop inclusive, high-performing teams that deliver successful outcomes for millions of users.

Location: You'll join us in one of our brilliant digital hubs in Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, or Sheffield, whichever is most convenient for you.

Hybrid Working: We work a hybrid model - you'll spend some time working at home and some time collaborating face to face in a hub.

Pay: We offer competitive pay of up to £80, 267.

Pension: You'll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%.

Holidays: A generous leave package starting at 26 days rising to 31 days over time.
