Job summary

Cambridge Consultants is seeking a Principal Engineer in our AI & Algorithms department with a defence and security focus. You will design, build and test intelligent systems, and act as the technical voice on projects, setting the AI strategy and mentoring engineers.

You will also engage with clients to win and deliver projects, contributing to technical direction, proposals, and department standards. A UK security clearance (SC) viability is required, and hybrid working is available with some

Qualifications

• 5+ years designing and delivering cutting-edge AI solutions including agentic AI systems.
• Experience assuring AI output quality and using enabling technologies.
• Experience collaborating with SMEs to build domain-rich systems.
• Strong undergraduate degree in AI/machine learning or related field.
• Able to architect technical approaches on complex projects and review others' work.

Responsibilities

• Acting as technical lead and architect on large projects.
• Setting technical direction and providing reviews across the department.
