Job summary

McLaren Racing seeks a Senior Specialist, Aerodynamics Design Engineer to lead development of aero surfaces and wind tunnel components, turning concepts into manufacturable solutions. You will combine advanced surfacing and mechanical engineering expertise with leadership, supporting projects and mentoring colleagues.

You will collaborate with aerodynamicists, CFD, model making, production and vehicle engineering teams to translate ideas into high-quality parts and assemblies that meet racing

Qualifications

• Degree in mechanical, automotive or aeronautical engineering or equivalent experience.
• Advanced experience in 3D CAD surfacing and solid modelling.
• Strong knowledge of engineering drawings and release processes.
• Experience planning and delivering technically complex work in a collaborative environment.
• Experience in Formula 1, motorsport or high-performance automotive engineering would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Create robust, high-quality parametric CAD models that meet aerodynamic specifications, Formula 1 regulations and standards.
• Design race car aerodynamic surfaces, wind tunnel model parts and assemblies with manufacturing readiness in mind.
• Apply knowledge of component packaging and wind tunnel systems to plan work, forecast lead times and deliver on deadlines.
• Lead technical problem-solving and improve CAD methodologies and best practices.
• Mentor junior colleagues and collaborate with aerodynamicists, CFD, model making, production, wind tunnel, R&D and vehicle engineering teams.
