Job summary

Hillingdon Council seeks an experienced Principal Accessibility Officer to provide expert leadership on accessibility and inclusive design across development proposals, regeneration schemes and public realm projects.

You will champion inclusive design, advise councillors and stakeholders, and identify external funding to support accessibility improvements and regeneration initiatives across the borough.

Qualifications

• Expert knowledge of accessibility and inclusive design principles.
• Experience providing specialist accessibility advice within planning, development, regeneration or public realm environments.
• Ability to assess development proposals and provide clear, practical recommendations.
• Knowledge of accessibility legislation, standards and best practice.

Responsibilities

• Act as the Council's lead specialist on accessibility and inclusive design.
• Review planning applications and development proposals to provide specialist accessibility advice.
• Influence developers and project teams to secure accessible outcomes.
• Assess access statements, undertake site visits and prepare clear reports.
