Job summary

Optical Precision in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced 3-Axis CNC Machinist with Heidenhain control preferred. You will set, operate and program CNC mills, working closely with the Engineering Manager to balance workloads and drive productivity.

This hands-on leadership role also involves mentoring junior team members, refining machining methods, and implementing tooling improvements to cut cycle times and boost efficiency while maintaining high quality and shop standards.

Qualifications

• Experienced 3-axis CNC machinist with Heidenhain control preferred and CADCAM/Offline programming experience.

Responsibilities

• Set, operate and programme 3-axis CNC milling machines, including CADCAM programming.
• Coordinate workloads with Engineering Manager and assist with production scheduling.
• Mentor and develop younger members of the machining team.
• Identify and implement improvements to machining methods, programming strategies, tooling and fixtures.
• Improve departmental systems, procedures, and working practices for consistency and efficiency.
• Monitor machine utilisation and production performance to optimise capacity.
• Promote high standards of quality and housekeeping in the department.
