Job summary

Aka Recruitment partners with a local client in Wakefield to recruit a Vehicle Technician for a busy, family-run workshop. You will service, diagnose, and repair a range of vehicles, ensuring work meets manufacturer standards and quality is upheld.

This role offers a Monday–Friday 8:30am–5pm schedule with overtime on Saturdays. Salary up to £36,000 with negotiable terms based on experience and excellent workshop conditions.

Qualifications

• Qualified to Level 3 NVQ/City & Guilds in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Experience as a Vehicle Technician in the automotive sector.
• Own tools are essential.
• Full UK driving licence with no more than six penalty points.
• MOT testing licence advantageous but not essential.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on various vehicle makes and models.
• Diagnose faults using modern diagnostic equipment.
• Complete health checks and document service work.
• Maintain a safe, clean workshop and adhere to safety regulations.
• Work with service advisors to complete work within timescales.

Aka Recruitment are proud to be working with a fantastic local client of ours to bring you this exciting Vehicle Technician position based in Wakefield. Working within a thriving workshop, you will be joining a forward-thinking and well-established family-run business. Working hours are Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5pm, along with overtime available on Saturdays. You will be rewarded with a basic salary starting up to £36,000, with further negotiation available depending on experience, alongside excellent working conditions and additional financial incentives.

Job Duties Include:

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on a wide range of vehicle makes and models.
• Diagnose faults using the latest diagnostic equipment and carry out repairs to the highest industry standards.
• Remove and refit mechanical and electrical components efficiently and accurately.
• Complete vehicle health checks and inspections, identifying any additional work required.
• Ensure all servicing and repairs are completed in accordance with manufacturer specifications and dealership standards.
• Carry out routine maintenance including brakes, suspension, clutches, cambelts and engine repairs.
• Accurately complete all job cards and service documentation.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment.
• Ensure all tools and workshop equipment are maintained and used correctly.
• Adhere to all Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices at all times.
• Work closely with the Service Advisors and Workshop Controller to ensure vehicles are completed within agreed timescales.
• Deliver a high standard of workmanship while contributing positively to the workshop team.

Requirements:

• Qualified to Level 3 NVQ,City & Guildsor equivalent in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Previous experience as a Vehicle Technician within the automotive industry.
• MOT Testing Licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Ability to work efficiently within a busy workshop environment.
• Own tools are essential.
• Full UK Driving Licence with no more than six penalty points.
