Job description

We are a forward-thinking, modern authority known for our strong financial management. We are ambitious and encourage our employees to be bold and innovative in their work. We have a large in-house corporate legal team consisting of lawyers, trainees, and support staff with a key focus on staff training, retention, and progression.

Role

We are looking for a qualified solicitor or fellow of CILEX to join our busy commercial property team. The successful candidate will undertake a varied caseload of commercial property transactions and projects for all Council departments and external clients. All legal staff are currently required to attend our offices in Stafford at least once a week or more frequently if needed.

Main Responsibilities

• Undertaking routine to moderately complex commercial conveyancing transactions including sales, purchases, leases, and licenses.
• Providing support for senior team members on large or complex transactions.
• Offering general legal advice on property matters, including legal research and title due diligence.
• Supervising junior team members.
• Adhering to the Legal Services Unit's LEXCEL quality standards.
• Assisting with the drafting of Committee reports.

The Ideal Candidate

We seek a qualified solicitor, CILEX fellow, or barrister with commercial property experience, either from the public sector or private practice. The candidate should be capable of working independently and in a team, possess strong communication and organizational skills, and live within a commutable distance of Stafford.
