Job description

Job Requirements

Required: In-depth knowledge and experience of public sector housing law and litigation, including:

  1. Significant experience with council housing management law under the Housing Act 1985 and relevant legislation, procedures, and policies.
  2. Experience in council house possession work, unauthorised occupancy, succession, and possession on grounds other than rent arrears.
  3. Experience in homelessness litigation, law, and housing allocations under the Housing Act 1996.
  4. Experience with litigation and law relating to local authority tenancies under the Housing Act 1985.

Additional requirements include:

  • Experience working in a local authority.
  • Ability to conduct casework with minimal supervision.
  • IT literacy, skilled in legal research, and proficient in using electronic legal case management systems.
  • Ability to provide clear and accurate legal advice and assess legal risks.
  • Availability to work full-time in the office during the induction period (2-3 weeks) and at least three full days per week thereafter.
