A leading data insights company in Leeds is seeking a qualified legal practitioner to provide legal advice on data insight services, create contract templates, and support regulatory engagement. The ideal candidate has experience in information services or regulated financial services, and strong skills in data privacy law and effective communication. This role offers a competitive salary and benefits including 26 days' annual leave and flexible working arrangements.
Providing legal advice to the UK and European business on the development of new, leading edge data insight services and the use of existing and newly acquired data assets in a manner that complies with licence terms, legislation, industry codes and policy.
Creating contract templates for the sale of new services, training the client contracting team on these templates, and providing subject matter expert support to live client contract negotiations.
Supporting legal and regulatory horizon-scanning and engagement with external stakeholders, including responding to consultations and queries from regulators and trade associations.
Supporting service launch and change management in key markets outside of the UK where TransUnion services may be licensed for use, including instructing and managing local counsel.
Advising the business on how its data assets can be used compliantly as part of data insight service development and operational change processes, often in response to innovative proposals (both B2B and B2C).
Obtaining and maintaining in-depth knowledge of contracts, legislation, industry codes, and policies regulating the use of data assets by TransUnion.
Supporting the work of the Data Protection Officer, Government Relations, and TransUnion's representatives at internal and external data oversight committees, governing bodies, and regulators (including FCA and ICO).
Preparing and providing training to team members and the wider business on regulatory and legislative developments and the use of TU's data assets, products, and services.
Providing ad-hoc assistance to solutions development and operational teams in managing TransUnion's data assets and services compliantly.
Understanding and following internal processes while proactively driving and responding to process innovations within UK Legal and the wider business.
Licensed legal practitioner with experience advising in or working within the legal function of an information services company and/or regulated financial services business.
Detailed understanding of UK data privacy law (including UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018) and the FCA regulatory regime.
