We lead the Government's work on the future governance of football. Currently, the Shadow Football Regulator has over 30 staff members, led by an interim Chief Operating Officer, preparing for the passage of the Football Governance Bill in Parliament.
The Shadow Football Regulator is a dedicated DCMS team responsible for establishing the Independent Football Regulator, ensuring it has the necessary skills, governance, and functions to begin operations after the Bill's Royal Assent.
This recruitment depends on the Bill's progress. The role is expected to transfer to the Regulator once legally established.
Note: The Independent Football Regulator will be based in Greater Manchester, location to be confirmed.
We are hiring a Lawyer to join the Shadow Football Regulator (SFR) to advise and shape the organization during the Parliamentary passage of relevant legislation.
The successful candidate will develop the legal function within the new organization and support the creation of a legally robust regime.
You will work with the legal team and broader organization to identify, monitor, and manage legal risks related to the IFR's activities.
This includes advising on the IFR's powers and obligations, legal risks of regulatory strategies, investigations, enforcement, litigation, appeals, decision-making, governance, and public law issues.
You will provide practical legal advice grounded in statutory, public law, and industry contexts to various IFR teams.
The legal team will collaborate with the sponsor department, DCMS, and industry bodies.
Salary includes £52,082 plus £15,088 from the Civil Service pension scheme.
