Job summary

Hyndburn Borough Council is seeking a proactive and enthusiastic lawyer to provide advice across a broad range of council functions, focusing mainly on contracts, procurement and information law. You will manage a varied caseload and work with officers and councillors alike.

We welcome applications from newly qualified lawyers as training and supervision will be provided. Flexible working and job share applications are welcomed, with a generous reward package including leave and pension benefits.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor, barrister or chartered legal executive with eligibility to practise law.
• Experience or familiarity with contracts, procurement and information law preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with officers and councillors.

We have a vacancy in our busy, but friendly, Legal Section for a proactive and enthusiastic lawyer to provide advice across a broad range of Council functions, focusing mainly on contracts, procurement and information law.

Previous experience of some of the work areas covered by the post is preferred, but we are open to applications from newly qualified people as training and supervision will be provided. Similarly, Local Government experience is desirable but not essential.

You will be able to manage a varied and busy caseload in a timely manner and good at communicating with officers and councillors alike. You will be a qualified solicitor, barrister or chartered legal executive.
