Job description

Ferrovial Construction is looking to appoint a Lawyer to join its legal team in the UK.

The successful candidate will have access to a comprehensive range of work and will be the dedicated legal resource for Ferrovial Construction’s work at Heathrow Airport as well as Ferrovial Construction’s civils business. The key focus of the role is to protect the company's interests through strong and effective contract creation and administration. This is a broad ‘hands-on’ role within a small legal team in the UK, which works closely with the group head office in Madrid.

The role is mainly based in London and is ideally suited to a construction lawyer eager to work closely with project teams.

Key responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with project leadership to identify and evaluate legal risks and opportunities, and implement mitigation strategies.
  2. Provide proactive, regular advice to project teams on issues related to project contracts, third parties, supply chain, and commercial objectives, including:
  • Interpretation and application of main project contracts and supply chain documents.
  • Supporting procurement in drafting and negotiating contracts.
  • Assisting in avoiding and managing claims and disputes, including working with external counsel as needed.
  • Undertake reporting and other duties related to governance.
  • Share best practices and lessons learned with teams.
  • Assist in engaging external counsel when required.
  • Skills and Competence
    1. Junior to mid-level projects/construction lawyer.
    2. Solicitor of England and Wales (or qualified in another common law jurisdiction).
    3. Experience with NEC or construction projects (desirable).
    4. Flexible attitude with the ability to multi-task.
    5. Strong communication skills.
    6. Motivated, analytical, and professional attitude.
    7. Experience in an international organization (desirable).
    8. Willing to work from an office four days per week in Heathrow and London, with occasional travel to project sites.
