Job Description:

Contract type: Full Time (37.5 hours) – Permanent

Location: Teesside, Teesside International Study Centre

Salary: £39,605 per annum

Teesside University International Study Centre (ISC) is a new development launched in October 2021. You will work in a culture focused on enhancing learning, teaching, and assessment through autonomy, innovation, and development opportunities.

As a Tutor in the Business, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Law Department, you will teach modules on Law and Criminology across various levels of the International Foundation Year (IFY), International Year 1 (IY1), or Pre-Master’s Programme (PMP). It is advantageous to be able to teach modules such as:

  • Public Authorities & Human Rights
  • Introduction to the Constitutional Principles of Law
  • English Contract Law
  • Understanding the English Legal System
  • Civil Law (Tort)
  • English Contract Law

And for criminology:

  • The impact of Crime on Society
  • Contemporary Issues in Criminal Law
Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to module delivery and development.
  • Prepare and deliver lectures, seminars, and tutorials (up to 25 hours/week).
  • Assess student work, provide feedback, and write reports.
  • Develop and update course materials, including for the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
  • Work with the Student Experience team on induction, orientation, and registration.
  • Ensure student welfare and support, liaising with colleagues as needed.
  • Implement quality assurance procedures and contribute to course reviews.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and performance.
  • Participate in meetings, training, and development activities.
About You:
  • LLB (Hons) Law or Criminology BSc (Hons)
  • Relevant Teaching Qualification
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Experience teaching relevant modules in UK Higher or Further Education, including with international students
