The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in London offers a Level 6 Machine Learning Apprenticeship designed to develop practical skills in AI, data analysis and machine learning within our Data Technology and Innovation teams. The programme prepares you for data science roles in a public-sector context.

As an AI/Machine Learning Apprentice, you will contribute to model development, data preparation, feature engineering and governance, while collaborating with stakeholders and balancing

Qualifications

• 2 A-Levels or equivalent at grade C or above.
• 5 GCSEs including Maths and English at grade 4/C or higher.
• At least one of: STEM A-Level, Level 4+ technical apprenticeship, 2+ years of technical industry experience, or demonstrable coding/data interest.

Responsibilities

• Support the development and testing of machine learning and predictive models under guidance.
• Prepare and understand data for analysis, including cleaning and validation.
• Assist with feature engineering, model evaluation and monitoring.
• Apply responsible AI, ethics and governance principles throughout development.
• Translate analytical challenges into data‑driven solutions with stakeholders.
• Document work clearly for transparency and reproducibility.
• Participate in agile delivery of data and analytics work.

Education

2 A-Levels or equivalent

5 GCSEs including Maths and English

STEM A-Level or Level 4+ technical apprenticeship

2+ years industry experience in technical role

Demonstrable interest in coding or data projects
