Job summary
Novanta is seeking a Laser Engineer to join our Stockport team. You will develop, test and optimise laser systems and optical assemblies used in high-precision applications across global markets, influencing product performance, reliability and manufacturability from concept to production.
You will build prototypes, align and characterise lasers, analyse data to identify improvements, and support product validation and manufacturing readiness.
Qualifications
- Degree in Physics, Photonics, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar.
- Experience with lasers, optics, photonics or electro-optical systems.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting capability.
- Experience creating technical reports and test documentation.
- Passion for solving challenging engineering problems.
Responsibilities
- Developing and testing laser systems and optical assemblies.
- Building, aligning and characterising laser prototypes.
- Analysing performance data and identifying improvement opportunities.
- Supporting product validation and manufacturing readiness.
- Troubleshooting complex laser, optical and system-level issues.
- Collaborating with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality and Service teams.
- Contributing to new product introduction and sustaining engineering activities.
