About your new role

PLEASE NOTE: This role is not on the list of occupations eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route

Our national Large Loss team provides market-leading legal services dealing with claims involving severe injuries and complex insurance work. Weightmans’ Large Loss team handles claims primarily reserved over £350,000, representing over £800 million of client reserves. Typical cases involve brain, spinal, and amputation injuries, as well as substantial dependency fatality claims.

Your primary role will be to assist senior case handlers in the Large Loss team based in Liverpool or Manchester.

As a Paralegal, you will work on a variety of high-value catastrophic personal injury cases for various insurers. Your key duties will include:

  1. Assisting fee earners with tasks such as case management, legal research, record reviews, and court preparations.
  2. Managing a multi-track caseload independently under supervision.
  3. Assisting with instructions to Counsel and experts.
  4. Responding promptly to correspondence and inquiries from clients and other parties, with or without supervision.
  5. Ensuring compliance with client service level agreements.
  6. Achieving financial and chargeable targets.

You will also support the team’s business development activities. This list is not exhaustive, and you may have additional duties within the role. As a Paralegal, you will be expected to adhere to Weightmans and client policies, working in line with our core values.

About You

  • You should have at least 12 months' experience as a Paralegal in the multi-track/large loss area, with motor work experience preferred but not essential. The role is varied, so a flexible approach and adaptability are important. Additionally, you should have:
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • High attention to detail and concentration.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and targets.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of CPR procedures and technical ability.
