Overview

Language Development Assistant – Location: Across Flintshire Schools. Salary Range from £24,413 to £25,185 FTE. 16.5 hours per week. Term Time Only. Part-time role; there are discussions about part-time hours/job share.

Responsibilities
  • Support curriculum access, model appropriate language patterns, and employ effective strategies to improve language outcomes for both monolingual and bilingual pupils.
  • Collaborate with schools, officers and parents to develop and extend the language skills of pupils within the Foundation Phase; this may include refugees and other pupils for whom English is an additional language.
  • Demonstrate an empathetic approach to children learning English as an additional language and respect for individual pupils’ language, culture and religion.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of strategies to support language development with EAL pupils or pupils with specific language needs would be beneficial.
