Job summary

Chessington Garden Centre is seeking a capable team member to understand safe handling of goods and assist with a range of tasks on the landscapes department floor. You will stock, pack, and prepare orders while engaging with customers and maintaining displays.

You should be able to work independently for short periods and have an eye for detail in presenting landscapes areas; some experience in landscaping or retail will be beneficial.

Qualifications

• Safe handling of goods and manual handling experience required.
• Ability to listen and follow instructions.
• Attention to detail with presentation of landscapes area.
• Independent work for short periods is expected.

Responsibilities

• Stocking paving sets, slabs, rocks, timber products.
• Picking and packing orders, direct sales and web orders.
• Unpacking deliveries to the yard.
• Processing customer orders at tills and arranging deliveries.
• Carrying and lifting stock for customers.
• Organising stock and displays for the department.
• Supporting promotions and events on the shop floor.
• Greeting customers and answering queries about products.

The Responsibilities

• Stocking the area of paving sets, paving slabs, rocks/stones, timber products
• Picking and packing orders – direct sales and web orders. Pulling stock ready for customer deliveries as instructed
• Unpacking of deliveries from goods in to the yard
• Completion of customer orders through tills, arranging deliveries and taking details as needed
• Carrying & lifting stock items for customers
• Organising and managing stock relevant to your department
• Contributing to the smooth running of promotions or events
• Greeting and giving advice to all levels of customer from beginners through to experienced contractors and answering customer queries regarding products
• Maintaining a constant personal presence on the shop floor
• Ensuring stock levels are maintained and displays are tidy
• Daily care of the department & storage area including cleaning and ensuring promotional materials are correct and up to date
• Using the tills and point of sales system to look up prices and product information
