Job description

Job Overview
We are looking for a skilled and adaptable individual to join our team supporting local authority landscape and vegetation management (V) work in the Lingfield, Surrey area. This full-time, hands-on role involves operating mini excavators, dumpers, and other plant machinery. Experience with compact and full-size agricultural tractors fitted with side-arm flails, rear flails, and other attachments is ideal—but a strong willingness to learn is just as important.

You’ll be expected to confidently carry out vegetation-related tasks such as brush cutting, mowing, hedge trimming, and ground-based tree pruning. General maintenance duties will also include fencing, bollard installation, verge reinstatement, and soft and hard landscaping. We’re seeking a reliable all-rounder who enjoys outdoor work and is open to developing new skills in vegetation management and landscape maintenance.

Location Requirement
Applicants must live within 10 miles of Lingfield, Surrey. A trailer licence is a definite advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver maintenance and vegetation management (V) services for county council soft and hard landscapes

  • Undertake tasks such as hedge trimming, mowing, flailing, and brush cutting to a high standard

  • Set out works, assist with ordering materials, and liaise with council engineers as needed

  • Support office staff with quotations and help plan and schedule jobs

Required Skills & Experience

  • Competent in the use of compact/full-size tractors, mini diggers, and relevant tools for vegetation management and general landscape work

  • Confident handling ditching, grading, verge reinstatement, bollard and handrail installation

  • Familiarity with tree pruning, fencing, and general soft landscaping tasks

  • Excavator ticket is beneficial

  • Enthusiastic, dependable, and willing to get involved in a range of outdoor tasks across highways and public spaces

Job Details

  • Job Type: Full-time

  • Pay: £16.50–£19.35 per hour

  • Expected Hours: 40 per week

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday
