Job summary

Survey Solutions in Manchester is seeking a Surveyor to join our land department. You will perform topographical, measured building, and setting-out surveys using advanced tools, both on-site and in the office. The role requires independent work, mentoring of junior staff, and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams.

This full-time position operates Monday to Friday 9:00–17:30 with overtime and occasional weekend work. A full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK are essential.

Description

Survey Solutions is a leading engineering surveyor specialising in land, measured building and underground utility surveys as well as monitoring and site engineering schemes. We are looking to appoint a Surveyor within the land department in our Manchester office. We have a network of ten offices with our teams of surveyors and engineers working on some of the UK’s major construction and infrastructure developments.

As a Surveyor at Survey Solutions, you will work independently completing a full range of small to large scale topographical, measured building and setting out surveys, using innovative technology and processing data in the office to a high working standard. You will be confident working on multi-disciplined survey projects and will have a competent understanding of various surveying methods and data capture.

You will also share your expertise and knowledge with less experienced team members to assist their development, by providing practical experience onsite and office-based work.

This is a full-time role with office hours of Monday to Friday from 9.00 – 5.30, however site hours will vary so overtime and occasional weekend working will be required.

Responsibilities

As a Land & Measured Building Surveyor, you will:

• Complete topographical surveys and measured building surveys, of various scale and complexity, independently to a high standard
• Work on large and complex surveying projects with team members of various technical ability and experience, to complete the project to a high standard
• Provide guidance and direction to team members on large and complex survey projects
• Work effectively on projects with trainee, junior and survey technician level staff, assisting with their development by providing practical experience onsite
• Process multi data sets from various instrumentation to a high working standard, including topographical and measured building data
• Demonstrate competent knowledge of traversing and GPS control networks
• Undertake initial site inspections and complete dynamic risk assessments when attending survey sites, reporting any safety issues to the wider surveying team or to management

The Person:

• Previous experience working in the surveying industry (2-3+ years).
• Previous experience completing small to large scale topographical surveys, of various complexities, independently
• Previous experience completing measured building surveys, of various scales or complexities, with laser scanners and/or traditional methods independently
• Experience processing raw survey data and CAD data to a high working standard
• Experience and knowledge of traversing and GPS control networks
• Extensive technical knowledge and previous practical experience of topographical surveying, including experience using surveying equipment and software
