About the Role

Are you passionate about land and property surveying? Do you want to make a real impact in your local community? East Riding of Yorkshire Council is looking for a skilled and motivated Land/Geomatic Surveyor to join our Asset Strategy team.In this varied and rewarding role, you will be responsible for delivering accurate and up-to-date land and property surveys, 3D scans, and plans. You ll support the development of asset management and investment plans that ensure our property portfolio delivers optimum value for the Council and its residents.

You will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of land and property data, supporting strategic decision-making across the council.

Your work will involve using advanced technology and systems to optimise land and property, collect, manage, and analyse estate data, contributing to the effective asset management of council property.

What You ll Be Doing
  • Utilise digital tools and systems to maintain accurate property records and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Undertake regular inspections and surveys to identify estate management issues and implement appropriate actions.
  • Conduct topographical surveys of land and measured buildings surveys and 3D scans of council buildings.
  • Provide detailed plans and drawings for a range of council services, including Right to Buy , leases encroachment, enforcement and compulsory purchase.
  • Manage boundary disputes and support acquisitions and disposals.
  • Liaise with landowners, tenants, and the public to gather information and resolve issues.
  • Maintain and update the graphical elements of the Corporate Property Information System.
  • Support small-scale projects and collaborate on larger initiatives with senior colleagues.
What We re Looking For

Essential:

  • HNC or HND or Foundation Degree in surveying or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of land and building surveying, including AutoCAD, REVIT, GIS, ERSI and 3D scanning (FARO).
  • Strong understanding of property management, ownership, and boundary issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines across multiple projects.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to work on-site in varying conditions.
  • Enhanced DBS check required.

Desirable:

  • Professional membership (e.g. RICS) or 5+ years post-qualification experience.
  • Experience working in a local authority setting.
  • Familiarity with the geography of the East Riding.
  • 5 years experience using AutoCAD or REVIT.
