Land & Rural Business Senior Solicitor (4+years')

A leading Scottish law firm is seeking a senior solicitor (4+ years')to join its established Rural Team in Edinburgh. This is a fantastic opportunity for a solicitor with a strong interest in rural property to work on a varied and high-quality caseload across Scotland.

About the Role
You will work closely with a range of clients including estates, agricultural businesses, developers, community bodies, investors and public sector organisations. The Rural Team handles some of the most interesting and complex rural transactions in the market. Work will include:

  • Sale and purchase of estates, farms, forestry, and rural land
  • Advising on rural development projects, including housing and renewables
  • Drafting and negotiating lease and option agreements
  • Agricultural tenancies - creation, variation, and termination
  • Rural lettings including residential, commercial, and sporting leases
  • Handling title issues, boundary disputes, and voluntary registration
  • Advising on land use, overage agreements, and rural business structures

Candidate Profile

  • 4+ years' PQE with experience in property law and conveyancing
  • A genuine interest in rural property work
  • Strong communication and drafting skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Able to manage competing deadlines and work independently
  • Commercially minded and client-focused
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and eager to continue learning
